Gayle Peterson's pioneering work on the body-mind processes of pregnancy
and birth have inspired such philosphies as Robin Sale's Whole Birth
Resources and Pamela England's Birthing From Within. Dr. Gayle has a
wonderful web site with articles and books at http://www.askdrgayle.com
Her book "An Easier Childbirth" helps women and families work through the
emotional dynamic of pregnancy and birth.
"Birthing From Within" by Pamela England and Horowitz
Pamela's book is different from any other pregnancy book. She helps couples
explore the inner dynamics of the life transition of birth based on Gayle
Perterson's model of body-centered birth.
"The Complete Pregnancy Book" by Sheila Kitzinger
A wonderful and comprehensive book about everything to do with pregnancy
and birth. If you only by one general book about pregnancy, this is the one!
Sheila emphasises the normal process of birth and informs couples on the myriadof options available to them in different birth settings, as well as month by monthdescriptions of pregnancy, nutrition, etc...
"The Natural Pregnancy Book" by Aviva Jill Romm
Aviva Jill Romm is a respected herbalist and midwife who simplifies using herbs safely during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She also explores pregnancy month by month, emotional dynamics and includes a comprehensive list of common ailments and discomforts of pregnancy and how to treat them naturally.
"Gentle Birth Choices" by Barbara Harper
A book about making choices in your pregnancy and birth that are respectful,
gentle and healthy for couples and babies. Waterbirth is explored in detail with
many studies and medical information to back up its safety and effectiveness.
